3.1.4 PSTN Interface
A BV1250 unit equipped with an FXO line interface board can also be connected
directly with standard analog CO lines from a PSTN service provider.

The following information should be considered when installing and using
FXO equipped units connected with a PSTN.
•
FXO equipped units conform to the standard TIA/EIA 464B
(Requirements for Private Branch Exchange Switching Equipment).
•
For voice signals, it is possible to configure a unit’s incoming and
outgoing digital pad (gain/loss) settings. The default incoming and
outgoing pad control is set to 0 dB. These defaults should only be
altered based performance tests following installation. In particular, the
FXO unit's incoming pad may need to be adjusted to accommodate the
PSTN’s characteristics. Also, an AGC (Automatic Gain Control)
feature can be used to automatically adjust incoming voice signals to a
preset level.
•
To increase port density, a maximum of 30 BV1250 units (equivalent
to 120 trunks) can be stacked in connection with a single PBX. Hunt
Patterns and Trunk Priority features of the BV1250-FXO unit are used
for stacked units.

FXO units can be configured with two ports connected to a PBX
(analog subscriber interface) and two ports connected to analog CO
lines.
