In the sample, the Zone is recorded using the default value, US.
Custom parameters can be used to create special tone sets for a
BV1250 unit. See Appendix E: for details.
Numbering
Use the Numbering section of the worksheet to record the access number
(e.g. extension and Access Codes) for the BV1250 being installed.
The information recorded is necessary to setup phone numbers for a
BV1250 network. The numbers configured in this manner may be setup to
emulate familiar PSTN numbering plans and/or conform to existing PBX
numbering systems. Behind the scenes, the numbering plan is mapped to
the network IP addressing by the Gatekeeper or the internal and/or external
DNS system. The telephone numbers used for processing a BV1250 unit
call varies based upon the specific network configuration. Below is a
general discussion of AP/FXS numbering. See Appendix C: for a complete
discussion with examples.
The structure of a BV1250 telephone number includes the IVG (unit)
Office Code

, the line Extension Number and the optional Voice and Fax
Access Codes.
24
Voice and Fax Access codes can be sent at the beginning or end of a dialed
number sequence.

AP/FXS unit numbering information is entered into the Maintenance
Console Software using the Numbering folder. In addition, if internal
and/or external DNS functions are used in the network, this information is
used in configuring the DNS.DAT and DNS server configuration files.
23
Each E&M and FXO unit also has a unit Office Code but, in some configurations, a PBX Office
Code or FXO Hunt Group Office Code may represent the number that is actually used when dialing
through the unit. See the E&M and FXO worksheets in this chapter for additional details.
24
The BV1250 automatically differentiates between voice and fax communications. Optional Access
codes can be used to support applications, when required. If an Access code is defined, the code is
dropped from the called number. Access codes can be setup to be dialed at the beginning or end of a
dialing sequence.
25
E&M-OD equipped units can have extension numbers up to 16 digits in length. See E&M Setup
Worksheets.
