Replacing a BlackDiamond 10808 Switch Fan Tray
CAUTION
Do not cover or obstruct the fan ventilation holes at the rear of the unit. Doing so can result in overheating and
possible damage to the BlackDiamond 10808 switch. Thermal sensors will shut down the BlackDiamond 10808
switch if the internal temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius.
BlackDiamond 10808 fan trays are hot-swappable. You do not need to turn off power to the
BlackDiamond 10808 switch to remove a fan tray.
You need the following tools and equipment to replace a fan tray:
●
ESD-preventive wrist strap
●
# 2 Phillips screwdriver
CAUTION
Service to all equipment should be performed by
trained and qualified service personnel only.
Before installing or
removing any components of the system, or before carrying out any maintenance procedures, you must read the
safety information provided in
Appendix A
of this guide.
Removing the Fan Tray
To remove the fan tray from the BlackDiamond 10808 switch:
1
Attach the ESD-preventive wrist strap to your wrist and connect the metal end to the ground
receptacle on the top right corner of the switch front panel.
2
Unscrew the two captive screws that secure the fan tray to the chassis
3
Use the finger grips to pull the fan tray out of the chassis approximately 1 inch (2.54 cm); this step
disconnects the power and causes the fans to stop rotating.
