Reading Parameters
Scan Speed (Scans per Second)
This parameter controls the activation/deactivation of the scanner's motor and the selection of the scanner's speed.
The available selections depend on the scanner model. Use the value best suited for your application. When changing
the value of this parameter to improve the reading performance on some barcode conditions (i.e. low scan speed for
high resolution codes), the new value may have an adverse effect on the reading performance of others (i.e. low
resolution codes).
For automatic setup of this parameter, use the SMART-TEACH AutoSetup function described in the product manual.
Selections:
(Off)
the scanner's motor is stopped.
500
600
700
Low scan speed
Increased reading capability for high resolution barcodes and long distance reading.
800
Standard scan speed
Increased reading capability for low/medium resolution barcodes and short distance
reading.
900
1000
High scan speed
Increased reading capability for low resolution barcodes and short distance reading.
Energy Saving
If checked, it enables the Serial Motor On/Off parameters to control the energy saving feature. In particular, it allows
turning on/off the motor and laser, and if it is MASTER to turn on/off all scanners on the network.
The time required to restart the system is only a few seconds, independently from the number of scanners connected.
It is suggested to use this parameter for example when the it is not necessary to read codes for a lengthy period.
Serial Motor On
A Serial Motor On string is an ASCII string of up to 32 characters which, when received on the serial interface, starts
the scanner motor according to the speed selection in the scan speed parameter. If the scanner motor is already
running this command is ignored.
NOTE
The Serial Motor On string must be different from the Serial Motor Off string and the Serial
Start/Stop Strings.
When ACK/NAK Protocol and Energy Saving are enabled, the Motor ON/OFF strings cannot contain
ACK/NAK characters.
Serial Motor Off
A Serial Motor Off string is an ASCII string of up to 32 characters which, when received on the serial interface, stops
the scanner motor.
NOTE
The Serial Motor On string must be different from the Serial Motor Off string and the Serial
Start/Stop Strings.
When ACK/NAK Protocol and Energy Saving are enabled, the Motor ON/OFF strings cannot contain
ACK/NAK characters.
