The DIGITAL IQ IN/OUT interface is designed for signal input or output. If you switch on,
e.g. signal input, the signal output is automatically switched off, and vice versa.
The following section describes the settings for configuring an input signal. Refer to
chapter 5.7, "Digital I/Q Output Settings"
, on page 267 for information concerning signal
output.
The equipment options for the basic unit (R&S SMBV with frequency option R&S SMBV-
B10x) includes option R&S SMBV-K18 (Digital Baseband Connectivity) and options R&S
SMBV-B10/50/51 (Baseband Generator).
The range for the sample rate of the external digital signals is 400 Hz to 100 MHz. The
resampler operates in such a way that a baseband signal with a sample rate of less than
100 MHz is interpolated on the 100-MHz sample rate and then used as output.
A sample rate less than 100 MHz must fulfill the following condition:
Sample Rate * 0.31 >= Modulation Bandwidth
With a sample rate of 100 MHz (Sample Rate Source "User Defined"), the modulation
bandwidth has a value of 40 MHz.
Fig. 5-22: External Baseband Signals
For sample rates in the range of 400 Hz ... <100 MHz, the external clock must be provided,
it is required to reconstruct the signal (Baseband In Mode "Digital Input" (Sample Rate
Source "Digital I/Q In")).
The signal source (typically a second R&S Instrument) and the receiving R&S Instrument
have to be synchronized.
