Air / Oil Heater Operation And Temperature Adjustment.
The auxiliary oil mist generator is equipped with an integral air oil heater. This is the same as the
heater assembly installed on the main oil mist generator reservoir. A separate solid state
controller controls the heater element for the auxiliary oil mist generator. See the section titled
Auxiliary Oil Mist Generator in the PRODUCT DESCRIPTION section for further description of the
heater and its controls.
Readout and parameter management is performed through the LED display and membrane panel
key switches. When the power is shut off, or in case of power failure, control parameters are
saved in non-volatile memory. The components are specified for operation from –40 to +180

The controller is a dual thermocouple unit with solid state relay voltage drive outputs for control
and alarm functions. The control uses type K thermocouples. The temperature control
thermocouple provides the signal for switching the electrical power via a solid state relay. A
second type K thermocouple is used for a high temperature alarm and heater cutout.
Controller Operation
The control begins operation as soon as power is applied and shows the process temperature
display.
The control output (SSR1) will be fully
ON if the temperature of the control thermocouple (#1) is
below the programmed bandwidth, fully OFF above the programmed bandwidth and proportional
within the bandwidth.
If the temperature of the cutout thermocouple (#2) is below the programmed cutoff Set-point, the
cutout output (SSR2) will be
ON . If the temperature of the #2 thermocouple is above the
programmed cutoff Set-point, SSR2 will be OFF .
If the temperature of thermocouple #2 falls below the programmed Low Alarm Set-point, the “

”
LED on the front panel will be illuminated.
If either thermocouple sensor becomes open circuited, the display will read “EEEE” and both SSR
outputs will be held in
OFF until the problem is corrected.
If the regulated air pressure switch contacts are OPEN (low pressure), the HEAT and CUTOFF
outputs will be held
OFF . When the regulated air pressure exceeds 10 PSIG, these outputs
function normally.
Programming And Changing Set-points
The default control set point for the auxiliary air / oil heater is 120

C. The high
temperature cutout is preset at 140

C. The low temperature alarm setting is 100

C. All temperature settings can be viewed or changed by following the following procedure.
Push the
SET key once. The display will show the current process control setpoint and the
rightmost digit will display “1”. The UP and DOWN arrow keys will adjust the process control
setpoint between the limits of 100F and 140F (or equivalent degrees C, if F/C parameter is set to
C). Pushing
SET again will advance to the next parameter, but if no key is pushed for 10
seconds, the control will automatically return to the temperature display and control screen.
NOTICE:
The heater element controls are interlocked with the low air pressure
switch. The heater remains inoperable until the regulated air pressure
increases above 10 PSI. This is to ensure that airflow over the
element has been established before electrical power is applied. To
check the regulated air pressure, open the right side mechanical
compartment door to view the regulated air pressure gauge. The
gauge is mounted on the right side of the mist generating head body
