Data and Event Log
Within the operating program of the IVT controller, the microprocessor polls all operating
variables at a specified time interval. All input signals are then scaled according to the selected
unit of measure and then posted into the Data Log. As data is posted and accumulated, the result
is a historical record of how the IVT Oil Mist Generator operated over the time. Once the data
table is full, the most aged record is dropped and the most recent record is added. The data log
contains a maximum of 2043 records posted at one-hour intervals. The data log is accessible
through the serial data port.
Additionally, an Event Log is also generated and held in memory. The event log is a record of all
alarms, adjustments and reset events. The all events are posted chronologically, and recorded
with a date – time stamp. The event log is also accessible the serial data port. For additional

The IVT data communication port transmits an ASCII data string when an address character is
received. The address to send characters are as follows.
1. To transmit the EVENT LOG, send address character “
e ” to RX input
2. To transmit the DATA LOG, send address character “ d ” to RX input
Personal Computer Communication Software
This instruction uses Microsoft® Windows 95 / 98, HyperTerminal® as a help example to access
and down load the DATA LOG and EVENT LOG from the IVT Oil Mist Generator. We have
selected HyperTerminal® because of its wide use and availability. Other communication software
is available, however the user must determine its use and compatibility. The manufacturer does
not endorse the use of Microsoft® HyperTerminal®.
To connect to a PC using HyperTerminal®:
1. Using Windows 98 select the START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, COMMUNICATIONS,
HYPERTERMINAL folder.
From within this folder select HYPERTERM.EXE file.
From HyperTerminal Folder Execute
The HyperTerminal.EXE File.
