Bulk Oil Supply Reservoir
General Description and Use:
The IVT Oil Mist Generator console includes an integral bulk oil supply reservoir. As oil is
consumed during the normal process of providing oil mist lubrication to the serviced equipment
the volume of oil in the bulk oil reservoir will decrease. The decrease in volume is monitored in
two ways. An oil level sight glass is located behind the front cabinet door. The operating level can
easily be check and monitored from this location. Second, the bulk oil reservoir is equipped with
an oil level transmitter that is interfaced with the IVT controller. Additional information on read
outs and remote monitoring can be found elsewhere in this manual. .
Commission The Auxiliary Oil Mist Generator
Before oil can be added to the bulk oil supply reservoir, the main oil mist-generating unit must be
shut down and the auxiliary unit must be commissioned. This being because the air space above
the oil levels in the bulk oil reservoir and the main oil mist generator is common. During normal
operation, mist flows from the main oil mist generator into the bulk oil reservoir before exiting the
IVT Oil Mist Console. This feature provides an oil mist purge on the bulk oil reservoir and keeping
it clean. Instructions for changing from the main to the auxiliary oil mist generator can be found in
the section of titled AUXILIARY OIL MIST GENERATOR.

