Replace the Midplane Assembly

Remove the server back panel accessible components.
a.
Remove any cables attached to the back of the server.
Before removing cables, label each one, noting its connection point.

Remove the SMODs. See “Remove an SMOD” on page 195 .
Note -
Label the SMODs 0 and 1 when removed to ensure that they are returned to the original
locations.
c. Remove all eight DPCCs. See “Remove a DPCC” on page 151 .
Before removing the DPCCs, label each one populated with PCIe cards, noting its slot
location. For slot designations, see “Identifying Components” on page 24 .
4. Remove the eight screws that secure the server to the rack at the front of the
server.
5. Use a lift to remove the server from the rack.
The midplane assembly is located inside the server. In the following illustration, call out 1
shows the location of the midplane assembly.
