Power Off the Server Using the Server OS

Press and hold the Power button for four seconds to force the Main power off

and to enter Standby power mode.

When Main power is off, the Power/OK LED on the front panel begins flashing, indicating that

the server is in Standby power mode. See

“About Controls and Connectors” on page 72

Disconnect the power cords and data cables from the server.

Caution -

When you power down the server using the Power button, the server enters Standby

power mode. Power is still directed to the service processor remote management subsystem and

power supply fans. To completely power off the server, you must disconnect the power cords

from the power supplies.

Power Off the Server Using the Server OS

If the server operating system (OS) is running, you can use its shutdown procedure to power off

the server to Standby power mode. The procedure provides a graceful shutdown of the server.

Before You Begin

To power off the server, use the OS-specific shutdown procedure.

Verify that the server is in Standby power mode.

When the server is in Standby power mode, the SP indicator is on steady, and the Power

OK indicator blinks at the single blink rate (a quick flash every three seconds). See

“Troubleshooting Using Status Indicators” on page 59
