Remove Power

Remove Power

Use this procedure to completely remove power from the server. Changing the server from

Main power mode to Standby power mode does

not

completely remove power from the server.

If you need to completely remove power from the server to perform cold service or a cold reset

or to place the server in a non-powered state, you must disconnect the AC power cables from

the back of the server.

Before You Begin

See:

“Power Control, Shutdown, and Reset States” on page 118

Place the server in Standby power mode.

Use one of the power off methods. See

“Powering Down the Server” on page 111

Access the back of the server.

To remove power from the server, lift the power cord retaining clips, and

disconnect each AC power cable from the AC power block.

This action completely removes power from the server.

If you are performing a cold reset, wait at least 60 seconds before connecting the

AC power cables to the power supplies.
