The MPC885 supports the UTOPIA muxed data bus (common Rx and Tx data bus) in UTOPIA master
mode, as well as the split bus described in UTOPIA level 2 specifications for both master and slave modes.
The bus signal groups for each of the three possible UTOPIA bus modes (muxed master, split master, and
split slave) are shown in Table 43-2. For the specific port configuration programming, see
Chapter 42,
“Interface Configuration.”

TSTP
Transmit stop (gracefully). Can be used to stop the transmitter from sending cells on the UTOPIA
bus.
0 Transmitter is operating.
1 Transmitter is stopped. If TSTP is set during a cell transmission, the UTOPIA controller completes
the transmission of the cell and then halts. No more cells are sent as long as TSTP is set.
Note:
This bit should only be used for debugging.

TEHS
Transmit expanded header size. Program TEHS to match ECSIZE in the parameter RAM.

SPLIT
Selects the UTOPIA bus mode. SPLIT also affects the availability of the MII signals on the PCMCIA
port A pins as described in
Section 42.2.5, “PCMCIA Port A Signal Multiplexing.”
0 Muxed mode. MPC885 uses the common UTPB[7:0] data bus and SOC for both Rx and Tx.
1 Split mode. MPC885 uses UTPB[7:0], SOC, UTPB_Aux and SOC_Aux, as defined in
Table 43-2
.
If UTOPIA is not active (UT=0) the PCMCIA Port A signals are available.

LB
Loopback mode.
0 Normal mode
1 Internal loopback mode. It is the user’s responsibility to program one port (Tx or Rx) as master
and the other as slave

ADDPI
N
Address pins. Selects the number of valid TxAddr and RxAddr signals needed in the multi-PHY
environment (master or slave mode).
00 2 address signals (addr[1:0]) support up to 3 PHYs.
01 3 address signals (addr[2:0]) support up to 7 PHYs.
10 4 address signals (addr[3:0]) support up to 15 PHYs.
11 5 address signals (addr[4:0]) support up to 31 PHYs.
Note:
Addr[0] is always the lsb of the PHY address.

STAT
Activate statistical counters to collect total Rx and Tx cell counts, see
Section 39.5, “Statistical
Counters.”
0 Do not activate the counters.
1 Activate the counters.

TMPYE
Transmit multi-PHY enable.
0 Transmitter is operating in single-PHY mode (according to UTOPIA level1).
1 Transmitter is operating in multi-PHY mode (according to UTOPIA level 2, PHY polling method)

TMPYP
Transmit multi-PHY masterpriority.
0 Round robin priority. All PHYs are given equal priority in a circular polling method. (Polling always
starts with the next consecutive PHY number.)
1 Fixed priority. PHY0 is given the highest priority; the “last” PHY has the lowest priority. (Polling
always starts with PHY0. If PHY0 does not need attention, polling proceeds to PHY1, and so on
to the last PHY.)

THECI
Transmit HEC byte insertion in expanded cell mode (TEC = 1)
0 No HEC insertion in expanded cell.
1 HEC insertion. The inserted HEC contains all zeros.
