39.6.1
Programming Multi-PHY Mode (Master Only)
To initiate multi-PHY mode, the user must set the MPY bit in the SRSTATE, STSTATE and APCST
registers in the parameter RAM. The user must also select UTOPIA mode (through the PDPAR[UT] bit).
Selecting the number of PHYs in one of the two MPHY modes should be done by programming the
number of PHYs in the NMPHY field of MPHYST. Also, the MPHY pointing table must be established;
see
Section 40.8, “MPHY Pointing Table (Master Only).”
The following subsections discuss the address mapping options for MPHY mode.
39.6.1.1
Internal Look-up Table MPHY Support
The internal look-up mechanism is available in multi-PHY mode and can support up to four PHYs
(PHY0–3 only) with 8 channels per PHY. (If more PHYs or channels are required, use the address
compression mechanism or an external CAM look-up—see
Section 39.6.1.2, “Address Compression

) In multi-PHY mode, the 32-entry
address matching and pointing tables described in
Section 39.1.1, “Internal Look-up Mechanism
(SRSTATE[EXT] = 0),”
are divided into four sub-tables each, providing a table pair for up to four PHYs.
The AMBASE, APBASE and AMEND values used for each PHY are calculated as follows:

shows the address mapping tables for multi-PHY internal look-up. Note that the eighth entry
in each sub-table is reserved for each PHY unique default raw cell queue.
