PCMCIA Port A Signal Multiplexing
The PCMCIA port A pins carry the PCMCIA port A signals (default function), the auxiliary data,
start-of-cell and clock signals for the UTOPIA split bus. The mode of operation determines which signals
are active on the pins.
When in UTOPIA split bus mode, the auxiliary UTOPIA signals are active. When not using UTOPIA, the
pins act as their default PCMCIA port A signals.

Table 42-6
, the relevant mode-selection bits are in PDPAR, UTMODE. (See
Section 42.1.1,
“Port D Pin Assignment Register (PDPAR),”
and
Section 43.2, “UTOPIA Mode Register (UTMODE).”

RISC Controller Configuration Register (RCCR)
The RCCR[DR1M,DR0M] bits must be set (level-sensitive IDMA request signals) to enable UTOPIA
operation. Also, program RCCR[DRQP] to 0b10 to give SCC transfers higher priority.
42.2.7
UTOPIA Mode Initialization
The following procedure is required for proper initialization of the UTOPIA interface:
1. Because the UTOPIA port activates immediately upon initialization, configure the ATM
parameters and data structures first.
