Chapter 7
Interconnecting Shelves
This chapter briefly discusses the system for communication between FSP
3000R7 shelves and ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DCs in a multi-shelf network
element. It describes how to interconnect the shelves with the various Shelf
Control Units. Detailed procedures for installing the management cables (fiber
patch cables and electrical cables) are provided.
The chapter contains the following sections:
Introduction , which gives a brief overview of the management modules that
ADVA Optical Networking provides for controlling and monitoring the FSP
3000R7 network element.
Audience , which tells you who this document is intended for.
Associated Documentation , which lists documents to help you interconnect
shelves.

Interconnecting Shelves which gives an overview of the FSP 3000R7 shelves

various shelf control units, the optical pluggable transceivers as well as the
management cables are described, and the methods for interconnection of
shelves are discussed. This section also provides detailed procedures for inter-
connecting the FSP 3000R7 shelves via Shelf Control Units (management
cabling).
Connecting the 40CSM/2HU Shelf to a FSP 3000R7 Shelf , which describes how
to connect a 40CSM/2HU Shelf to a management controller.
Interconnecting a ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC Shelf to an FSP 3000R7
