Interconnecting a
ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC Shelf to an
FSP 3000R7 Shelf
In order to establish communications between the FSP 3000R7 and
ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC equipment, the management (monitor and
control) ports on the SCU are connected to the management ports on the FSP
3000R7 shelf. The connections described are a ring configuration.
Equipment Required
To connect SCU modules to the ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC, one
SCU-Intercom kit is required. The kit includes fiber patch cables, and SFP trans-
ceivers for the SCU and ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DCs.
Follow the same guidelines as described at the beginning of Chapter 5 of this
guide. To connect the equipment in and ring configuration, perform the following
steps:
Procedure
Step 1
Remove protective covers and dust plugs from the equipment one at
a time and insert pluggable SFP transceiver modules as the connec-
tions are made. Refer to Appendix B in the
Hardware Description
Guide
and
below.
Step 2
At the FSP 3000R7 master shelf 1 SCU, connect a fiber jumper from
Port U transmit and receive to Port D receive and transmit on the
ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC EAST.
Step 3
At the ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC east, connect a fiber jumper
from Port U transmit and receive to Port D receive and transmit on
ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC west.
Step 4
At the ROADM-C40/40/OPM-3HU/2DC west, connect a fiber jumper
from Port U transmit and receive to SCU, Port D receive and transmit
on FSP 3000R7 shelf 2. (additional channel shelf)

Note
Monitor and control is accomplished by connecting the equipment
management ports “U” and “D” together in a ring. For example, on the
SCU Port U, transmit and receive fiber pairs go to port D on the
eROADM. From the eROADM Port U, transmit and receive fiber pairs
go to Port D on the next eROADM. These connections continue until
the ring is complete.
