Connecting AC Power Cords to SH7HU and
SH1HU-R Shelves
The following procedure describes how to connect the AC power cord to a 7HU
shelf or to an SH1HU-R Shelf.
It is assumed that you are familiar with power supplies and are aware of the pre-
cautions that should be taken to avoid personal injury and damage to equip-
ment.
The 1HU Shelf Rear Power Access (SH1HU-R) is powered by two independent
hot-swappable AC power supply units. The AC inputs are on the rear side using
male connectors (IEC 320-C14). Each power supply unit has to be equipped
with a power cord locking clamp for securing the cord. Two locking clamps can
be found in the accessory box supplied with the shelf.
To connect the AC power cords, follow these steps:
Procedure
Step 1
Find the physical location of the shelf in the rack where it is to be con-
nected to the line power.
Step 2
Determine which power supply unit is to be connected first
(e.g. Power A or Power 1).
Step 3
Ensure that the power supply unit is firmly seated in the shelf slots.
Step 4
If the power cord is to be connected to a power supply unit of the
SH1HU-RShelf, it is mandatory to assemble a power cord locking
clamp.
Follow these steps:
a) Take the power cord locking clamp out of its bag, which can be
found in the accessory box of the shelf.
b) Grasp the locking clamp on the two long sides and squeeze them
together.
c) Snap the squeezed clamp into the guide intended for this clamp,
. The guide is assembled directly above the
power supply connector.
