Safety Guidelines
Before you perform any installation procedure, review the safety guidelines in
this section to avoid injury or damage to the equipment.
CAUTION
Only Service Personnel or suitably qualified personnel are allowed to
install power supply units.
WARNING
Risk of hazardous voltage!
Be aware that you may touch live contacts when the PCB cover is
damaged or missing and voltage is applied later. Do not install the
power supply unit if it is damaged or if the covers are missing.
WARNING
Risk of electric shock!
Ensure that the shelf is reliably and permanently connected to the
earth point of the rack before installing the power supply unit.
Risk of electrostatic discharge!
To prevent damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD)
•
take standard anti-static precautions when handling power supply
units or coming in contact with them.
•
wear an ESD wrist strap or use a similar individual grounding
device when installing power supply units.
NOTICE
µ
Risk of electromagnetic disturbances!
Make sure that the EMI gasket is not damaged before
installing the power supply unit. Damage to the EMI
gasket will result in electromagnetic disturbances which
degrades the performance of your system. Relevant EMC
requirements cannot fulfilled.
NOTICE
Risk of electromagnetic disturbances!
To maintain agency compliance requirements for the
9HU and 7HU shelves with a single power supply unit
•
the unused power supply slots must be filled with the
appropriate dummy modules or
•
the dummy modules must remain in the unused
power supply slots.
Do not remove these dummy modules from the shelf
unless you intend to install a redundant PSU.
The 1HU shelves must always be equipped with two AC
power supplies. (There are no plates to cover the slots).
