Step 4
Verify you have the proper shelf type. Check the shelf type label on
the side for identification.
Step 5
Verify you have the following items:
•
Mounting brackets, 19 inch to 23 inch (only used for 23 inch rack
installations)
•
Chassis mounting screws
•
Red 14 -gauge wire
•
Black 14 -gauge wire
•
Ring terminals
•
10 A fuses
Make a note of missing items, if necessary.
Step 6
Visually check the ROADM-C40/40/2-3HU-2DC shelf for signs of
external damage.
Step 7
If you are not mounting ROADM-C40/40/2-3HU-2DC chassis in a
rack, then place the chassis back into the cardboard box and close
the box. Otherwise, save the cardboard box along with the packaging
material for re-use.
Step 8
If any discrepancies are found, proceed as follows:
a) If the ROADM-C40/40/2-3HU-2DC has been damaged in transit,
immediately report the extent of damage by filing a claim with the
transportation company. Notify your ADVA Optical Networking
customer service representative or ADVA Optical Networking as
well. Have the following information ready:
•
Invoice number of shipper
•
Name of damaged unit
•
Serial number and item number of the damaged unit
•
Description of damage
•
Effect of damage on the installation
If damaged unit must be returned to the factory, refer to
. Order replacement equipment if neces-
sary.
b) If any standard item is missing, notify your ADVA Optical Net-
working customer service representative or ADVA Optical Net-
working immediately.
Risk of damage due to electrostatic discharge!
Keep the ROADM-C40/40/2-3HU-2DC in its box until you are ready to
inspect it.

Note
Do not destroy or discard the cardboard box. Flatten and save it along
with the packaging material. This way you can transport a shelf safely
or, if necessary, return it to the factory for repair.
