Finding the NE IP Address
This section describes how to find the IP address of the NE.
Required Privileges
You must log on with a user account with Admin privileges.
Procedure
Step 1
First check with your planning documentation. The IP address is
defined with the installation. If this information is not available, you
must access the NE via a serial cable.
Step 2
To make a serial USB connection, refer to
Connecting a PC to the
USB Interface
.
Step 3
Use Hyperterminal, refer to
Appendix B: Terminal Emulation Pro-
grams
.
Step 4
Log on to the NE.
Step 5
You can find the IP addresses of the NE in the following way:
•
From the Craft Console main menu, go to System Management >
System IP Settings.
•
From the Craft Console main menu, go to Service Management >
SHELF > MOD-1A (NCU)
. For each dependent entity that is not
unassigned, look under the Config tab.

Connecting a PC to the Ethernet Interface (Network)
This section describes what is necessary to establish an Ethernet connection
between the management computer and the NE via an Ethernet network. For
this connection to work, the NE must have correct IP addresses and the neces-
sary routes must have been set up in the network so the NE and the manage-
ment computer can reach each other.
Requirements
•
A management PC or laptop with:
o
Windows or Linux operating system
o
Connected to and configured to operate on the Ethernet network
•
If necessary for the two devices to reach each other, network routes must
be established by the network administrator.
Procedure
Step 1
Ensure that your management PC is connected to its local IP network.
Step 2
Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the RJ-45 Ethernet port
marked C, C1 or C2 on the NCU module in the NE.
