Oil drain plug

Oil filter

Unscrew and remove the oil filter using T3880313 - Oil Filter Wrench.
4.
Dispose of the old oil filter in an environmentally friendly way.
5.
Pre-fill a new oil filter with clean engine oil.
6.
Apply a smear of clean engine oil to the sealing ring of the new oil filter.
7.
Fit the oil filter and tighten to
10 Nm
.
8.
After the oil has completely drained out, fit a new sealing washer to the drain plug. Fit and tighten the plug to
25 Nm
.
9.
Fill the engine with new oil of the type and grade listed previously and in the specification section.
10.
Start the engine and allow to idle.
11.
CAUTION
Racing the engine before the oil reaches every part can cause engine damage or seizure.
Ensure that the oil pressure warning light extinguishes shortly after starting and the message WARNING -
OIL PRESSURE LOW is not shown in the instrument display screen.

CAUTION
If the engine oil pressure is too low, the low oil pressure warning light will illuminate. If this light stays on
when the engine is running, stop the engine immediately and investigate the cause. Running the engine with
low oil pressure will cause engine damage.
Stop the engine and check the oil level. Adjust if necessary.
13.
Low Oil Pressure Warning Light Switch - Removal
WARNING
Before starting work, ensure the motorcycle is stabilised and adequately supported. This will help prevent it
from falling and causing injury to the operator or damage to the motorcycle.
Note
The low oil pressure warning light switch is located in the upper crankcase, behind the cylinder
head.
Remove the rider’s seat (see Rider’s Seat - Removal).
Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.
Remove the throttle bodies (see Throttle Bodies/Injectors - Removal).
Remove the alternator (see Alternator - Removal).
Disconnect the electrical connection to the switch.

Remove the switch and collect the copper washer.
