On machines with a Yanmar diesel engine, the fuel pump is attached to the air
cleaner stand adapter below the fuel/water separator (
). Electrical
current is available for the fuel pump when the key switch is in either the R
UN
or S
TART
position.
The Toro Electronic Controller (TEC) energizes the fuel pump.
IMPORTANT
When testing the fuel pump, ensure that the pump is not operated
without fuel.
DANGER
Diesel fuel is highly flammable.
•
Use caution whenever you handle diesel fuel.
•
Do not smoke while testing the fuel pump.
•
Do not test the fuel pump while the engine is hot.
•
Ensure that there is adequate ventilation when testing.
•
Always wipe up any spilled diesel fuel before starting the engine.
Testing the Fuel Pump Capacity
1. Park the machine on a level surface, lower the cutting units, shut off the
engine, and set the parking brake. Ensure that the key switch is in the O
FF
position.
2. Unlatch the hood and raise it.
3. Ensure that the fuel hoses attached to the fuel pump are free of obstructions.
