Alignments and Adjustments
Paper Feed Belt Tension
(Figure 5–11)
Tension Check
1. Open the printer cover.
2. Remove two screws (1) and the belt guard (2).
3. Press down with your finger in the middle of the paper feed belt (3)
using about 2 to 5 pounds of force.
4. If the belt deflects significantly more or less than .0625 inch (1.6 mm),
adjust the tension as described below.
5. Install the belt guard and two screws.
6. Close the printer cover.
Adjustment
1. Remove the lower paper guide as described on page 6–56 of Chapter 6,
Replacement Procedures.
CAUTION
Do not use tools to apply leverage to the motor during adjustment as
damage to the printer is possible.
2. Loosen four nuts (4) and position the motor (5) to establish proper
tension, as described above.
3. Secure the motor by tightening four nuts.
4. Install the lower paper guide as described on page 6–56 of Chapter 6,
Replacement Procedures.
