8.5.4 Oscillator AC amplitude and frequency characteristics
This instrument: Set the frequency to 1 kHz and the AC amplitude to 100 mVpk.
Measuring instrument
: Set the broadband digital multimeter to AC voltage mode (true RMS).
Connections
: Connect the
OUTPUT OSC
connector of this instrument to the RF
voltmeter with a coaxial cable via a BNC feed-thru terminator.
Measurement method
: Set the oscillating frequency of the instrument to 1 kHz, 100 kHz,
1 MHz, and 2 MHz, and read the AC voltage value from the RF voltmeter.
The amplitude-frequency characteristic referenced to the AC voltage
measurement at 1 kHz is calculated from the measured AC voltage with
the formula shown below.

Set the AC amplitude of this instrument to 1 Vpk, and 10 Vpk, and obtain
the frequency-amplitude characteristic in the same way, with the AC
voltage measured at 1 kHz as the reference value.
