13 USER INTERFACE
The unit is configured and managed using a menu-driven user interface, accessible
via terminal, Telnet, SSH or HTTP (web) connection. Refer to section 4 for guidance
on establishing a connection, and section 7 for more on management of the unit via
a network connection.
13.1 Terminal/Telnet/SSH Interface
Terminal, TELNET and SSH connections offer a very similar user experience. The
topmost line of the screen contains status information comprising the unit model,
'node name' and global alarm status summary. Menus are displayed with a title
followed by a number of items spanning two columns; descriptions on the left, and
values or other information on the right. An area at the bottom of the screen is for
help information and user inputs.
The following generic terminal types are supported.
•
TTY
•
VT100/VT220
•
ANSI
For terminal connection, a selection can be made via the Terminal Settings menu.
For TELNET and SSH, the appropriate setting will need to be selected within the
client software.
The top-level menu is shown below as it appears in TTY mode. This is the menu that
appears once login is completed.
