9 Check the printhead cable connector for proper
connection to the carrier card.
Is the printhead cable properly connected to the
carrier card?
Go to step 10. Reseat the cable.
10 Replace the printhead. See “Printhead removal” on
page 4-73 .
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 11. Problem resolved
11 Replace the carrier card. See “Printhead carrier card
removal” on page 4-67 .

Symptom Action
Black print out from a simplex scan/copy
job Technical Support Center:
Turn off the printer by unplugging the power cord. Wait for 10
seconds, and turn on the printer. Resend the scan/copy job, and
check if the problem remains. Resend the scan/copy job, and
open the scanner assembly to check if it would move and light
up. If the problem remains, then replace the printer.
Service:
Go to “Black print out from a simplex scan/copy job” on
page 2-22 .
Black print out from a duplex scan/copy job
Note: Only the Pro5500 model supports
duplex scan/copy.
Technical Support Center:
Turn off the printer by unplugging the power cord. Wait for 10
seconds, and turn on the printer. Be sure that the ADF assembly
is closed properly. Resend the scan/copy job. Run a test print.
From the home screen, touch
> Print
Reports > Demonstration Page . Check if there are any
problems with the print out. If the problem remains, then replace
the printer.
