Paper jam in the second tray
Paper or specialty media misfeeds
These are possible solutions if paper or specialty media misfeeds or skews, or if multiple sheets feed or stick
together. Try one or more of the following:
•
Check paper condition. Use only new, unwrinkled paper.
•
Check paper loading.
–
Use the stack height marking on the tray to determine the allowable number of sheets to be
loaded. See
“Paper capacities” on page 1-19
–
Load paper with the print side facedown. (If you are not sure which side is the printable side,
see the instructions that came with the paper.)

Check the loading instructions for your paper or specialty media.
•
Remove each page as it is printed.
•
Adjust the paper guides to fit the loaded paper.

Second tray paper jam
Technical Support Center:
Remove the second tray, and check for any jammed media in the paper path.
Remove any jammed media. Do the same for the duplex unit.
Open the ADF/scanner assembly by pressing the latch handle. Remove any
jammed media in the print zone. Clear the paper path of any obstruction.
Properly set the paper guides of the second tray. Run a test print. From the home
screen, touch

remains, then remove the second tray from the printer. Run a test print again. If a
jam occurs from the printer, then turn off the printer. Wait for 10 seconds, and turn
on the printer. If the problem remains, then go to

tray.
