Black print out from a duplex scan/copy job
Note: Only the Pro5500 model supports duplex scan/copy.
Before starting, check the media route for foreign objects, such as staples, clips, and scraps, in the media path.
10 Check the J28 connector for proper connection and
damage. Reseat the cable.
Is the J28 cable free from damage?
Go to step 11. Go to step 13.
11 Check the J47 connector for proper connection and
damage. Reseat the cable.
Is the J47 cable free from damage?
Go to step 12. Go to step 13.
12 Replace the ADF assembly. See “ADF assembly
removal” on page 4-47 .
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 13. Problem resolved
13 Replace the scanner assembly. See “Flatbed
scanner assembly removal” on page 4-49 .
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 14. Problem resolved
14 Replace the midframe cover assembly. See
“Midframe cover removal” on page 4-50 .
Go to step 15. Problem resolved

Replace the system board. See “System board
removal” on page 4-32 .
Does the problem remain?
Replace the
printer. Problem resolved

1 Turn off the printer by unplugging the power cord.
Wait for 10 seconds, and turn on the printer. Run
the scan/copy job again.
Does the problem remain?

Check for any stain, dirt, or obstruction in the scan
area on the flatbed glass plate.
Check for any obstruction on the alignment edge of
the flatbed scanner.
Clean the scanner glass with a piece of cloth. Clear
the scan area from any stain, dirt and obstruction.
Does the problem remain?
Go to step 3. Problem resolved
3 Isolate the problem. Run a test print. From the
home screen, touch
> Print
Reports > Demonstration Page .
