24. Crane operation
4) Eco switch
It is used when the upper limit of engine speed is set during crane operation. (The recommended value for
energy saving is 1400.
)
When the PTO switch is turned ON and no accelerator is operated, the color of eco switch is blue indicating that
selection is available.
If you press the switch again while the selection is available, the
color of the switch is green indicating that the switch is selected.
The switch to increase/decrease the upper limit of engine speed
will appears. In any other case, the switch is black indicating that
selection is unavailable.
24-1-2 Precautions for operating the crane
(T218351-049-0E)
(1)
Whenever operating the crane, stay aware of the display status and illumination status of the safety level bar graph
on the ACS screen, warning sounds, and voice warnings.
Slewing operations require particular care.
(2)
If the ACS automatically stops a crane operation, act immediately to avoid danger, such as by derricking the boom,
retracting the boom, lowering the load, or reversing the slewing direction.
(3)
If an error number is displayed in the display window on the ACS screen, inspect the corresponding problem. If
the problem cannot be resolved, immediately contact your authorised KATO dealer.
(4)
Always follow the ACS precautions indicated in
20-3-3.
(5)
Outrigger floats lifting off the ground during crane operations
When a load is hoisted in an orientation diagonal with respect to
the carrier, the diagonally opposite outrigger float sometimes lifts
off the ground. However, this does not mean it lifts off the ground
because the crane is near its stability limit. Rather, it occurs due to
flexure of the carrier frame. Since the distance from the center of
slewing to the outrigger intersection point is farther in the diagonal
directions than in the fore-aft or lateral directions, the diagonal
direction is more stable. Consequently, if the total load is within
the lifting capacity and the crane is positioned level on level firm
ground, then there should be no problem with stability, even if an
outrigger float lifts off the ground.
