24. Crane operation
24-4 Boom extension and retraction
(321A-1063-0E)
The boom of this machine is 6-section telescoping type. It is operated using the boom extension/retraction lever and the
boom sections 4, 5 and 6 extension/retraction button. If it is not possible to extend or retract the boom sections 4, 5 and
6, move the boom extension/retraction emergency switch to the "release" position and operate the boom extension/
retraction lever to extend/retract the boom sections 4, 5 and 6 while pressing the boom sections 4, 5 and 6 extension/
retraction button.
24-4-1 Extension and retraction of boom sections 2 and 3

The boom is retracted when the boom extension/retraction lever is pulled upward.

The boom is extended when the boom extension/retraction lever is pressed downward.
(1) Extending boom sections 2 and 3
1) Confirm that the main and auxiliary hooks are lowered sufficiently below the boom.
2) Tilt the boom extension/retraction lever in the direction of extending the boom or depress the boom extension/
retraction pedal forward.
NOTE
For shock reduction at the time of switching, operate the boom at a slow extension speed after the boom is
extended to about 14.5m.
(2) Retracting boom sections 2 and 3

Confirm that the main and auxiliary hooks are not lowered more than necessary below the boom.
2) Tilt the boom extension/retraction lever in the direction of retracting the boom or depress the boom extension/
retraction pedal backward.
NOTE
For shock reduction at the time of stopping, operate the boom at a slow retraction speed after the boom is
retracted to about 7.5m.
