How to Use the VRM to Measure Depth of a
School of Fish
You can measure the depth to an object (school of fish, bottom, etc.) with the VRM
(Variable Range Marker).
1. Click the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to show the [Display]
menu bar. Click the VRM icon (
). The icon is now highlighted in green color and
the VRM appears on the display.
2. Drag and drop the VRM so that it intersects the echo whose depth you want to
measure.
Note:
Right-click at any time to cancel a dragging operation.
3. The depth is displayed above (or below) the VRM, at the center of the VRM.
4. To hide the VRM, click the [Display] icon (
) from the InstantAccess bar™ to
show the [Display] menu bar, then click the VRM icon (
).

How To Show/Hide The Minute Marker
The minute marker appears at the top of the screen when displayed. It is displayed as
a dashed line, with each dash, and gap between dashes, indicating a 30 second peri-
od of time. In other words, the time from the start of one dash to the start of the next
dash is one minute.
To show/hide the minute marker, click the [Minute Marker] icon (
) from the [Display]
menu on the InstantAccess bar™. The icon changes to green color when the marker
is turned on.
