Troubleshooting
The table below provides basic troubleshooting procedures which the user may follow
to restore normal operation. If you cannot restore normal operation, do not check in-
side the equipment. Have a FURUNO agent or dealer check the equipment.
Problem
Reason, remedy
Cannot turn on pow-
er.
• The power cable is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and recon-
nect or replace it as necessary.
• The cable connected to the Trackball Control Unit or the Transceiver Unit
is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and reconnect or replace it
as necessary.
• Check the ship’s mains.
• Check the fuse on the Processor Unit and Transceiver Unit. If a fuse has
blown, find the cause then replace it.
There is no re-
sponse when the
Trackball Control
Unit is operated.
• The cable connected to the Trackball Control Unit is disconnected or dam-
aged. Check the cable, and reconnect or replace it as necessary.
• Reboot the system. If you do not get a response, the Trackball Control Unit
may be damaged. Contact your dealer for instructions.
USB flash memory
is inserted in USB
port on the Trackball
Control Unit, howev-
er screenshots can-
not be saved.
• The USB cable between the Trackball Control Unit and the Processor Unit
is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and reconnect or replace it
as necessary.
No echo appears
but characters and
markers appear.
• The picture advance is stopped. Referring to section 1.6, set [Pic. Ad-
vance] to other than [Stop].
• Check if the scrollback feature (see section 1.24) is active. If it is active, de-
activate it.
• The transducer cable is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and
reconnect or replace it as necessary.
Echo appears but
no zero line.
• The displayed area is shifted. Referring to section 1.8, set the shift to [0].
• The zero line rejection is turned on. Referring to section 4.7.5, turn it off.
• The draft setting is improper. Referring to section 4.7.5, set the draft cor-
rectly.
Sensitivity is low.
• The gain setting is too low. Referring to section 1.7, increase the gain.
• Marine life is adhering to transducer face. Clean the transducer face.
• Your vessel is in heavily sedimented water.
• The bottom is too soft to return an echo.
Extreme interfer-
ence or noise.
• The transducer may be too close to the engine. Stop the engine and check
for noise on the screen. If noise is present contact a FURUNO agent or
dealer for advice.
• The ground wire of a unit has loosened or is damaged. Check the wire, and
reconnect or replace it as necessary.
• Same-frequency fish finder is operating nearby.
No depth indication. • The bottom echo is not shown. Referring to section 1.9, adjust the range
setting.
• The depth indication is not shown. Referring to section 1.16, show the
depth indication.
• [Bottom Search] is set to [Off]. Referring to section 4.7.2, change the set-
ting to [On].
Speed and/or water
temperature read-
out is unrealistic or
not shown.
• The sensor cable is disconnected or damaged. Check the cable, and re-
connect or replace it as necessary.
• The sensor is malfunctioning. Check the sensor.
