Replacing Parts

Install the motherboard in the chassis.
Angle the motherboard so that the connectors on the motherboard fit into the cutouts in the connector panel of
the chassis, and gently slide the motherboard into the chassis (see
).
Note:
As you slide the motherboard into position, lift the connector edge to ensure that the underside of jumper area
PCIEX8 clears the nearby screw standoff.

Align the mounting holes on the motherboard with the screw holes located in the base of the chassis (see
for the mounting hole locations).

Insert the six mounting screws that attach the motherboard to the chassis.
Partially tighten each screw before completely tightening any one screw. Do not over-tight the screws; doing so
could damage traces on the motherboard.
Now you are ready to replace the remaining motherboard components to complete the motherboard installation.
To replace the motherboard components

Replace the following cables to the motherboard (for the location of each connector on the motherboard, see

Fiery QuickTouch USB cable
•
Hard disk drive (HDD) data cable
•
SATA data cable
•
Power supply cable
•
24-pin motherboard power cable
•
4-pin motherboard power cable
•
10-pin power button cable
•
Fan cables (chassis fan and CPU fan)

Secure cables as necessary with any plastic cable clamp that you may have removed earlier.

Replace the printer interface board (see
).
Make sure to install the board mounting bracket screw to secure the board to the chassis. Press down firmly on the
top of the board as you insert the screw.

If you reinstall the old motherboard, reassemble the E-36A and verify its functionality (see
Make sure that unused connector panel slots are covered with slot covers. Uncovered slots reduce
air flow and may cause the E-36A to overheat.
