Installation and Service Guide: Color Controller E-36A
Installing System Software
If you are replacing the HDD on the E-36A with a spare SATA HDD, you need a SATA to USB adapter to connect the
SATA HDD to a USB 3.0 port on the Windows computer having the Fiery Installer Builder.
Note:
SATA to USB adapter is shipped inside the optional Service Kit for E-36A.
To prepare the SATA HDD

Attach the SATA to USB adapter, to an USB 3.0 port on your computer.

Connect the replacement SATA HDD to the other end of the SATA to USB adapter.

Start the Fiery Installer Builder.
Double-click the Fiery Installer Builder icon on the desktop or you can also click
Start
>
EFI
>
Fiery Installer Builder

At the
Downloaded
window, select
Color Controller E-36A 1.0
.

From the
Prepare action
pull-down menu, select
Prepare SATA HDD, and
click
Next.

At the
Select a SATA HDD
window, click the replacement SATA HDD that you connected, and click
Next
.
A warning message “This HDD will be formatted and all the data in this HDD will be lost.” appears. Click
Next
to
format the HDD and proceed.
The SATA HDD will be formatted and the E-36A system software will be copied to a recovery folder on the SATA
HDD.

Once the SATA HDD is prepared, remove the SATA HDD from the SATA to USB adapter.
You can use this SATA HDD as an replacement for the SATA HDD on the E-36A.
Install the system software using the prepared replacement SATA HDD
The E-36A system software is stored in a recovery folder on the prepared replacement SATA HDD. Replace the HDD
on the E-36A with the prepared SATA HDD and restore the E-36A system software from the recovery folder on the
SATA HDD.
To install the system software

Remove all the USB devices that are attached to the E-36A.

Shut down the E-36A (see

Remove all external cables from the E-36A.

Replace the SATA HDD on the E-36A with the prepared replacement SATA HDD (see

Plug the power cable into the wall power outlet.
Improper handling can damage the HDD. Handle the HDD with extreme care. See
All the data on the HDD will be lost when you format the HDD. Make sure that no valuable data
is stored on the device.
