Multi-Tiered Storage Overview and Concepts
Configuring the Multi-Tiered Storage (MTS) of the Titan SiliconServer is explained in this
chapter. The storage subsystem consists of storage devices and the Fibre Channel (FC)
infrastructure (such as FC switches and cables) used to connect these devices to Titan.
Each Titan provides four (4) Fibre Channel (FC) ports, independently configurable for either 1, 2
or 4 Gigabit operation.
Multi-Tiered Storage
MTS allows you to install various types of storage technologies behind a Titan. Through MTS,
the storage that best meets the requirements for applications can be selected. BlueArc supports
four tiers of networked storage, including NDMP Tape Library Systems (TLS) that can be
Ethernet or FC attached. All the storage that resides behind Titan is managed as a single system
