Policy-Based Data Replication

Pause While Replication(s)
Finish Writing
By default the data management engine imposes an interlock
to stop "NDMP" backups and "adc" copies from the destination
of a replication while a replication copy is actively writing
data. This is intended to help installations that replicate to a
volume and back up from there. However, the lock is held at a
volume level and with directory level replication and it may be
desirable to override this action.
To make use of this replication interlock, it is necessary to
specify this rule option on both the replication that is intended
to do the waiting, as well as the replication that is waited
upon. As a best practice, create one rule with this option
enabled and have each participating Replication Policy enable
the same rule. Then, schedule the Policy "that waits" to run
after the Policy that is "waited upon".
Take a Snapshot
Used to override the "Automatic Snapshot Creation" Backup
configuration option.
Note: Snapshots are used as an integral part of the
algorithm for incremental replication. The default
option must be chosen in order to make incremental
replication copies. However, when making a complete
copy of a directory disable the snapshot generation
option. Different files will be copied at different
times so if the source file system is changing and
there are dependencies between different files on the
system then inconsistencies may be introduced.
Delete the Snapshot
This variable determines when snapshots are deleted.
IMMEDIATELY gives the same effect as “Delete snapshot after
replication is done”, LAST preserves snapshot for use with
incremental replications and OBSOLETE will delete an
automatically created snapshot when the next backup of the
same level is taken.
Note: Changing the "Delete Snapshot" options can
adversely effect the replication process and
therefore, it’s recommended that this option only be
changed at the direction of BlueArc Global Services.
