Copies of the SMU's configuration database will start being archived daily on the Standby.
Verifying Operation of the Standby SMU
Once the Standby SMU has been defined, it is important to make sure copies of the Primary’s
configuration database are being properly archived.
To verify proper archiving of the Primary’s configuration, enter the URL of the Standby SMU into
your browser, and go to the following page:
From the
Home
page, click
SMU Administration
. Then, click
SMU Backup
.
The configuration backups in the list are identified by the
eth0
IP address of the SMU on which
the backup was performed. Additionally, archives that have come in from a Primary SMU will
indicate that they are
Remote
.
Backing up the SMU Configuration
The best way to preserve a copy of the SMU’s configuration is by installing a Standby SMU.
Short of that, the SMU’s configuration can be backed up manually. The SMU automatically
archives its own configuration, but if the SMU fails those backups would not be recoverable.
