I can access the ASUS Storage Management over my company

’s intranet. 

But I ca

n’t access it from an outside Internet connection. How do I make the 

Internet connection work?

 

 

This condition is not related to ASUS Storage subsystem, but is due to your 
firewall and network connection protocol. Contact your MIS Administrator. 

 

With some subsystems, I used the server

’s IP address in the RAID 

management software to connect with the subsystem. Why is this ASUS 
Storage different?

 

 

The ASUS Storage subsystem has the server software embedded. With 
ASUS Storage, you point your browser directly to the subsystem rather than 
a server. Also, with ASUS Storage, you do not have to create a subsystem 
because the subsystem already exists. 

 

Why can a RAID 1 logical drive on ASUS Storage consist of only two disk 
drives?

 

 

On ASUS Storage, RAID 1 logical drives work in mirrored physical drive 
pairs. You could create up to eight RAID 1 logical drives. Or you can create a 
single RAID 10 logical drive with data mirroring and up to 16 physical drives. 
If you have an odd number of drives but still want data mirroring, use RAID 
1E. 

 

See ―Installing Your Disk Drives‖ on page 16 and ―Introduction to RAID‖ on 
page 319 for more information on the number of physical drives you can use 
for each RAID level. 

 

Are logical drives on ASUS Storage limited to 2 TB?

 

 

No. But verify that your operating system 

supports 

logical drives over 2 TB. 

Also, for the operating system to 

recognize 

the full capacity of logical drives 

over 2 TB, you must specify a sector size of 1 KB or larger when you create 
the logi

cal drive. See ―Choosing Sector Size‖ on page 336 or more 

information. 

 

Do I have to install ASUS Storage Management on my network server?

 

 

No. Use ASUS Storage Management embedded with the ASUS Storage 
subsystem. 

 

How can I be sure everything is working OK on the ASUS Storage 
subsystem?

 

 

Locally: The ASUS Storage subsystem has LEDs on the front to monitor the 
status of power, field replaceable units (FRUs) and logical drives. When 
these are green, ASUS Storage is functioning normally.
