Working with the Event Viewer
Working with the Event Viewer includes the following functions:
•
Event Severity (page 259)
•
Viewing Runtime Events (page 259)
•
Clearing Runtime Events (page 260)
•
Viewing NVRAM Events (page 260)
•
Clearing NVRAM Events (page 260)
Event Severity
Each event has a severity level defined as:
•
Information
– Information only, no action is required.
•
Warning
– User can decide whether or not action is required.
•
Minor
– Action is needed but the condition is not a serious at this time.
•
Major
– Action is needed now
•
Critical
– Action is needed now and the implications of the condition are
serious.
•
Fatal
– Non-Recoverable error or failure has occurred.
•
None
– Deactivates this event for notification purposes.
Viewing Runtime Events
Runtime events refer to the 1023 most recent events recorded since the
subsystem was started. Runtime events are lost when the subsystem shuts
down.
To display Runtime Events:
1. From the Main Menu, highlight Event Viewer and press Enter.
The log of Runtime Events appears. Events are added to the top of the list.
Each item includes:
•
Sequence number
– Begins with 0 at system startup.
•
Device
– Disk Array, Logical Drive, Physical Drive by its ID number.
•
Severity
– See the list above.
•
Timestamp
– Date and time the event happened.
•
Description
– A description of the event in plain language.
2. Press the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the log.
