3
Click the
Setup
subtab.
4
Click the
Firewall
link. The Firewall page opens.
5
Click the
Enable Firewall
checkbox to enable the firewall. The firewall is
disabled by default.
6
Select either
Allow these IP Address Range
or
Deny these IP Address Range
to
define the address ranges you will enter next as an inclusive (allow) or
exclusive (deny) list.
7
Enter an IP address in the
From
box and a different IP address in the
To
box. These IP addresses define the range of addresses allowed or
denied.
8
Click the
Add
button to add the IP address range to the list displayed
in the box below.
You can add multiple ranges to the list.
9
If you add an IP address range in error, select the address range from
the list and click the
Delete
button to remove it from the list.
10 Under
Allow these IP Addresses
, you can add specific individual IP
addresses to an inclusive list. Enter these addresses one at a time,
clicking the
Add
button below this heading to add each individual IP
address to the inclusion list.
11 You can delete IP addresses from this list by selecting the address
and clicking the
Delete
button below the list box.
12 Under
Deny these IP Addresses
, you can add specific individual IP
addresses to an exclusive list. Enter these addresses one at a time,
clicking the
Add
button below this heading to add each individual IP
address to the exclusion list.
The combination of lists allows you to define an inclusive list as a
range of IP addresses and then specifically exclude a single address
from within that range under the Deny these IP Addresses heading.
Alternatively, you can deny access to a range of IP addresses and then
allow specific access to one IP address within the denied range.
13 Under
Deny these MAC Addresses
, you can add specific MAC addresses
and thereby specific machines, to an exclusion list. Add MAC
addresses to the list by entering them in the text box using the format
shown on screen and clicking the
Add
button.
This list supersedes the IP address lists. For example, if you allow a
specific IP address and deny a specific MAC address, a computer
using that IP address and that MAC address would not be able to
access the controller. If it used a different method of access, for
example via a wireless connection with a different MAC address, it
could access the controller.
