STEP ACTION YES NO
1 Did you perform ENGINE DIAGNOSIS FLOW
TABLE in SECTION 6?
Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE DIAGNO-
SIS FLOW TABLE in
SECTION 6.
2 1) Start engine.
2) Run engine to normal operating temperature.
3) Maintain engine speed at 2000 r/min for 60 se-
conds.
4) Measure voltage from terminal “A7” to ground.
Does voltage deflect below and above 0.45 V?

S and its circuit are
in good condition.
Intermittent trouble.
If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM/PCM
and recheck.
Go to Step 3.
3 1) Stop engine.
2) With ignition switch at OFF position, disconnect
ECM/PCM connectors and oxygen sensor con-
nector.
3) Check “R” and “Or” wires for open or short.
Are they in good condition?
Go to Step 4. Repair or replace.
4 1) Substitute a known-good oxygen sensor. Refer
to OXYGEN SENSOR REMOVAL AND
INSTALLATION.
2) Start engine.
3) Run engine to normal operating temperature.
4) Maintain engine speed at 2000 r/min for 60 se-
conds.
5) Measure voltage from terminal “A7” to ground.
Does voltage deflect below and above 0.45 V?
Faulty oxygen sensor. Poor connection of ECM/
PCM connector terminal
or oxygen sensor con-
nector terminal.
Inspect TP sensor ECT
sensor and MAP sensor
for malfunction.
If OK, substitute a
known-good ECM/PCM
and recheck.
NOTE:
Upon completion of inspection and repair work, perform DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE in this sec-
tion and confirm that the trouble has been corrected.
