4-7 Fan Control Mode
•
When the ANN/P-SV key is pressed for 3 seconds or more after pressing the SHIFT
key, the recorder enters into the fan-control mode. This mode allows the ventilation
fans to be stopped during the REC mode as long as the internal temperatures of the
SIR-1000W and SCX-16W are low, making it convenient for recording music and
other applications where silence is required. In the fan control mode, the LED to the
upper right of the ANN/P-SV key blinks and a rectangular mark appears at the right
edge of the tape position display area on the LCD screen.
1) In the fan control mode, the rectangular mark appears steadily on the LCD screen
when the internal temperature is low, and blinks to alert the operator when the
internal temperature rises above the cautionary temperature.
If the temperature rises further and exceeds the critical temperature, the ventilation
fans start to rotate automatically, the rectangular mark disappears and the recorder
exits the fan control mode.
2) From cold start, the relations of fans stop time and the ambient temperature is
approximately as shown below:
Channel configuration
8 or 16 channel
Ambient temperature
20°C (68°F) 30°C (86°F) 40°C (104°F)
25 min
17 min
10 min
3) When the recorder internal temperature is warm after continuous operation, the relations of
fans stop time and the ambient temperature is approximately as shown below:
Channel configuration
8 or 16 channel
Ambient temperature
20°C (68°F) 30°C (86°F) 40°C (104°F)

4) Like the P-SV mode, the analog playback circuitry and the LCD panel backlight
are turned off in the fan control mode.
5) To exit the fan control mode, press the SHIFT key and then press the ANN/P-SV
key for 3 seconds or more.
