Time Axis Conversion Playback
The SIR-1000W is capable of playing back data at different tape speeds from when the
data was recorded. Slow playback or fast playback is achieved by converting the
frequency of the recorded signal using the ratio of the tape speed during recording to the
tape speed during playback. This feature is especially useful when high speed signals need
to be displayed on a slow speed device such as chart recorders. The tape speed during
recording is displayed in the SPEED display area in the LCD screen.
Note
When a tape recorded at the tape speed slower than the normal speed is played back at the
normal speed, the playback signal may be interrupted momentarily. (In these cases, the mark
appears.) This may be due to various reasons, such as a large number of errors during
recording, or because real-time playback cannot be performed at the normal speed due to a
larger amount of retry data (useless data) than normal remaining on the tape, etc. Note that the
data not successfully reproduced at normal speed could be successfully reproduced at 1/2
speed or slower.
