OUT/TSG key
•
Press only this key to select the OUT (output level setting) mode. The LED to the
upper left of the key blinks. At the same time, the output values for the channels to
be set blink on the LCD screen.
In the OUT mode, the output level of the playback amplifier can be switched for each
channel.
Output level value ±1 Vpk, ±2 Vpk, ±5 Vpk, manual (continuous variable)
Select the output level values using the

or
9
key. To adjust the output level
manually, use the output level adjustment potentiometers on the rear panel.
Switch the channel to be set using the
;
or
:
key.
Note
When set to the manual position, “– –” appears in the RANGE display area on the
LCD screen.

When the OUT/TSG key is pressed after pressing the SHIFT key, the TSG (test
signal) mode results and the LED to the upper right of the key blinks. At the same
time, the types of test signal output for all channels appear on the LCD screen.
Test signal AC ±100%, DC +100%, DC –100%, 0 V, EXT
Select the test signal using the
;
or
:
key.
For EXT (external), the signal input to CH 1 becomes the test signal for CH 1 to CH
8. The input signal to CH 9 of the channel expansion unit becomes the test signal for
CH 9 to CH 16. The “EXT” is displayed on the LCD screen.

MRK/SLF key

Press this key in REC or FWD mode to select the MRK (mark setting) mode. The
LED to the upper left of the key lights momentarily.
The position of the tape when this button was pressed is stored in the memory, and
is saved until this key is pressed again while the cartridge is loaded.

When the MRK/SLF key is pressed after pressing the SHIFT key, the SLF (self-
check) mode results and the LED to the upper right of the key blinks.
In the SLF mode, the recorder automatically executes the specified test program to
check for trouble.

When the MRK/SLY key is pressed twice within one second after pressing the
SHIFT key, the recorder enters into the CAL (calibration) mode, and the CAL is
displayed on the LCD screen at the same time.

SEARCH key
Press this key to select the SEARCH mode. The LED to the upper left of the key blinks.
At the same time, the LEDs of the ID/UTL, MRK/SLF, FF, and REW keys blink. Press
one of these keys to select the desired search mode as follows.
1) ID/UTL key
: ID SEARCH
2) MRK/SLF key
: MARK SEARCH
3) FF key
: FORWARD START ID SEARCH
4) REW key
: REVERSE START ID SEARCH
During search in any of these search modes, the SEARCH LED blinks, and turns off
when the target has been found. It continues to blink if the search target is not found.
When the search target is found, the tape stops at the target position.
