2-5 Eject
When an attempt is made to eject a cartridge, the cartridge is automatically rewind to the
BOT and then ejected. It is possible to set for cartridges with MIC being ejected from
halfway in the tape.
2-6 Overwriting Data
Overwriting can be performed on pre-recorded tapes. An EOD is written at the point where
the new recording ends, so old data remaining after that point cannot be played back, so
care should be taken when overwriting on pre-recorded tapes. The figure below shows an
example of a tape which has been overwritten from part-way through ID number 003.
2-7 ID Block
Each ID block consists of one or more recording units, the recording unit consists of an
approximately 550 kbyte segment referred to as a Record. Therefore, the shortest ID block
length is one Record. This is approximately 170 msec. at the normal speed (
×
1) and
approximately 2.7 sec. at 1/16 speed.
