The FCH can be configured as follows:
●
FCH sets the radio configuration to use for the Forward and Reverse Fundamental
Channel (F-FCH-RC and R-FCH-RC). The Multiplex Options (F-FCH-MO and R-
FCH-MO) are not selectable; they are set to 1 by the Service Option 70 selection.

Voice Coder, see
chapter 4.3.8.3, "Speech Service"
●
Enhanced Variable Rate Codec, see
"Enhanced Variable Rate Codec"
The following table shows the mapping between the signaled Encoder Capacity Oper-
ating Point (ECOP) and the estimated Average Encoding Rate (AER) in kbps for active
speech (channel encoding rates) for the SO70. 3GPP2 defines some ECOPs as
reserved.

Service Option 73
Service Option 73 known as EVRC-NW provides an enhanced variable rate, two-way
speech service to the MS using the Forward Fundamental Code Channel with Multi-
plex Option 1. This service option communicates at one of four channel rates corre-
sponding to the 9600 bps, 4800 bps, 2400 bps and 1200 bps frame rates. The corre-
sponding speech coder source bit-rates are 8550 bps, 4000 bps, 2000 bps and 800
bps. Service Option 73 meets the requirements described in 3GPP2 C.S0014.
The FCH can be configured as follows:

Service Option 0x8000
Service Option 0x8000 provides an enhanced variable rate, two-way speech service to
the MS using the Forward Fundamental Code Channel with Multiplex Option 1. Service
Option 0x8000 meets the requirements described in standard CDG RF 27.
This requires option R&S CMW-KS810.
