connection states can be controlled via hotkeys at the R&S
CMW and via actions at
the MS.
The default settings of the R&S
CMW generally ensure a forward signal with suitable
characteristics for connection setup. The most important settings can be modified
directly in the main view.
Checks in case of failed registration
If the registration of the MS fails, check the following R&S
CMW settings:
●
The "Expected Power" must be in accordance with the reverse signal power.
●
The "Output Channel Power" must be sufficient so that the MS under test can
receive the forward signal.
●
The "RF Channel" of the generated forward signal must be within the RF Channels
supported by the MS.
●
The "System ID" must be set so that the MS under test can register.
Performing measurements
The required settings vary depending on the measurement to be performed. However,
the general procedure outlined below is applicable to most measurements.
1. Connect your MS to the R&S
).
2. Open the "CDMA2000 Signaling" firmware application.
3. Configure the signaling application according to the test to be performed.
4. To turn on the forward signal, click/press "ON | OFF" and wait until the "CDMA2000
Sig" softkey indicates the "ON" state.
5. Switch on the MS.
The MS under test synchronizes to the forward signal and registers. Due to the
CDMA2000 3GPP2 standard an MS registration within a CDMA2000 network could
take 12 or up to 20 seconds.
6. Click the "Connect 1st SO" softkey to establish a connection.
7. Wait until the connection states displayed in the main view indicate that connection
setup is complete.
8. Use the "Go to..." softkey to switch to the measurement application. This can be a
measurement provided by the "CDMA2000 Signaling" firmware application (e.g.
"CDMA2000 Signaling RX Quality" measurement) or the CDMA2000 "Multi Evalua-
tion" measurement (option R&S CMW-KM800).
In the latter case, the softkey also selects the combined signal path scenario in the
measurement. The scenario allows to use the measurement in parallel to the sig-
naling application and configures compatible measurement settings (e.g. RF and
trigger source settings).
