3. On the Kahuna switcher’s GUI panel, press the ENG CONFIG button.
The Engineering Config menu appears on the touch screen.
4. Touch the Protocols button on the screen to bring up the Engineering Config – Serial Port Protocols
menu.
5. In the list of RS-422 ports, select the one to which you connected the crossover cable.
6. Set the communications parameters for the selected port as follows, using the rotary controls on the
right of the GUI panel:
7. On the Kahuna switcher’s GUI panel, press the PERIPH button
The Peripherals menu appears.
8. Touch the Tally Control button on the screen to bring up the Peripherals – Tally Protocol menu.
9. Select the RS-422 port that is connected to the multi-viewer, and set its serial protocol options as
follows:
To set up the multi-viewer:
1. Launch XEdit.

• Although it is possible to define “user configuration” source names on the Kahuna switcher,
these are not transmitted over the serial tally interface. The switcher only transmits the
“engineering configuration” source names.
