The WLAN 8100 solution supports configuration of Wi-Fi Zoning on a domain AP (in the domain
AP database) or using radio profiles. Configuration on a domain AP takes precedence over
the configuration specified using a radio profile, except in the case where the AP database is
set for auto-configuration (-100 dBm).
Important:
The allowed range for the Wi-Fi association zone and roaming zone thresholds is
-99
to
-1
dBm. The values
0
and
-100
dBm are used to disable Wi-Fi Zoning and for auto-
configuration respectively. However, in current release the value -100 dBm disables Wi-Fi
zoning. Choose a value depending on the physical distance between the APs and also the
AP transmission power.
When you configure the Wi-Fi association zone and roaming zone thresholds for an AP,
always ensure that the Wi-Fi association zone thresholds is greater than or equal to the Wi-
Fi roaming zone thresholds. For example, if Wi-Fi association zone thresholds value is
-65
dBm, then configure Wi-Fi roaming zone with thresholds value
-80
dBm or
-65
dBm.
The recommended range for optimal zoning is
-90
dBm to
-65
dBm.
