Introduction
This chapter covers printing computer-to-film, envelopes, labels, and
transparencies. For additional information and troubleshooting
procedures, see chapters 2 and 11.
Printing Computer-to-Film
With the Positive Film Technology, you can print directly to
XANTÉ’s Myriad film to create an image that can be used to burn
silk-screen emulsions, bypassing the camera and darkroom steps.
Myriad film is a specially designed, semitransparent film with low
UV blockage. The transmissive density of toner on Myriad film is
increased to 3.3 when processed through FilmStar 2.
Always use the multipurpose feeder, following the procedure in
chapter 2, the media specifications in chapter 7, and these guidelines
when printing film.
• Use only XANTÉ’s Myriad film, designed specifically for use
with your printer and FilmStar 2. Using other film material may
void your printer warranty.
• Avoid handling film excessively to prevent fingerprints and
scratches.
• Keep the paper path clean (see chapter 9); dust or dirt can scratch
film and reduce print quality.
• Load fewer sheets of film if jams occur.
• Remove each sheet as it prints to help prevent static build-up.
• Do not fan film. This causes static build-up which can cause
jams.
• Once an image prints on Myriad Film, the toner side is the
emulsion side. For FilmStar 2 processing, film loads emulsion
side up.
